Public Relations Committee: oversees creating and managing content on BCTGM Local 81’s website, newsletter, and social media in conjunction with the Local Union President and the Leadership. This committee will be interlaced with all standing committees, they will be the basic editors and contributors of our quarterly newsletter.
Community Service Committee: performs the important task of getting help for members and their families in time of need. This committee also plays a pivitol role in strikes and layoffs. Some Examples include: Food drives, Blood drives, handyman services, food vouchers, gas cards, etc.
Education Committee: Would possibly have the President and Chief Steward on the Committee and would work to educate (1) Stewards (2) Membership (3) Schools (4) Organizations, etc. On the labor movement and the benefits of union membership.
UNION LABEL COMMITTEE: informs and educates members about the products and services we buy and use as consumers, assists in educating membership and community on official boycotts through the newsletter and the union bulletin board. This committee helps to emphasize the importance of supporting goods and services produced by union members under union-won working conditions.
By-laws committee: responsible for submitting original and\or amended by-laws provisions to the local board for discussion and approval. This committee monitors the required Local Union By-Laws and amendment procedure to ensure compliance with the current By-Laws and constitutional provisions.
